How to find businesses without a website in India
Search Google Maps for one type of business in one area and open each listing: the ones with no website link are your leads. Signboard runs that search for you, flags businesses whose only link is a Facebook or directory page, and ranks each one by how likely it is to pay for a website.
How do you find businesses without a website on Google Maps?
Search one business type in one area, then check every listing yourself. It’s free and works anywhere.
- Search a business type and a neighbourhood together, such as “dental clinic in Ghatkopar”.
- Open each listing and look for a Website button. No button means Google has no website for that business.
- If there is a link, open it. A Facebook page, an Instagram profile or a Justdial listing isn’t a website, so that business is still a lead.
- Copy the name and phone number into a sheet, and note what you saw so you have something to say.
- Track who you messaged and when, so you follow up instead of messaging the same business twice.
The catch is time: you open every listing, every website and every chat yourself. Compare Google Maps by hand with Signboard.
How does Signboard find them?
It does the same search, checks every listing at once and puts the best leads first.
- Type an area, or use your location, and pick one of 17 business types. One search returns up to 20 businesses, or up to 60 on Pro.
- Each business gets a score out of 100 for how likely it is to pay for a website. No website on Google adds the most points, 45. A social or directory link instead of a website adds 38.
- Turn on the No website filter, or Social only, to see just those businesses.
- Open WhatsApp with a message already written, send it from your own number, and get reminded to follow up.
Does a Facebook or Justdial page count as a website?
No. Many businesses put a social or directory link where their website should be, and on Google Maps it looks like they have a site. Signboard treats these links as “social only”, which scores almost as high as no website:
Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Justdial, IndiaMART, Sulekha, Practo, Zomato, Swiggy, Linktree, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Google Sites (business.site), free Wix subdomains and Blogspot.
How do you check a business really has no website?
Search for it before you pitch, because Google Maps sometimes has no website for a business that has one.
- Search the business name and city on Google and look past the Maps result.
- Check the bio on its Instagram or Facebook page for a website link.
- In Signboard, every lead without a site has a Search for a website link that runs this search for you.
If you find a site, it can still be a lead. One click on the lead runs a website check that lists problems first: not built for phones, no HTTPS, slow, or an old copyright year. Those problems are what you mention in your message.

How do you contact businesses without a website?
On WhatsApp, with a short message that names the business and what it’s missing. Signboard writes the message in English, Hindi or Marathi with your name and the business’s name, and you can edit it before you send. The WhatsApp button shows for Indian mobile numbers; landlines get a Call button.
Mark the lead as contacted and Signboard reminds you to follow up 3 days later, then 7 days after that, and stops after 2 follow-ups. A business stops showing to others once 3 freelancers have contacted it in 30 days, so owners don’t get the same pitch over and over.
What does it cost?
You can try 2 searches a day without an account. Free gives you 20 searches a month with no card. Pro costs ₹499 a month for 150 searches, up to 3 business types per search, website reports to send owners and 200 AI-written messages. See every limit.
What other tools find businesses without websites?
Several, and some suit you better if you work outside India or want email campaigns or a spreadsheet export. Each comparison says where the other option is the better choice.
Common questions
Can I find businesses without a website for free?
Yes. Searching Google Maps by hand is free. Signboard gives you 2 searches a day without an account, and 20 searches a month on the free plan with no card.
How many businesses does one search find?
Up to 20 businesses of one type in one area, or up to 60 on Pro, which uses 3 searches. Use the No website filter to see only the ones without a site.
Why are some businesses hidden?
To avoid repeat pitches to the same business, it stops showing up once 3 freelancers have contacted it in a month. Leads you already contacted always stay visible to you.
Can I download the list as a spreadsheet?
No. Google's terms don't allow storing and exporting their business data, so Signboard keeps only place IDs and has no export. Your leads, statuses and follow-ups stay in the app.
